Mental training for your team

Why bring mental training to your team?

Whether your team is chasing a championship or your club is just trying to stay focused through the ups and downs of a long season, mental performance training can be the difference between showing up and falling apart when it counts.

Mental training helps athletes handle discomfort, stay focused under pressure, and manage the fear, doubt, and overthinking that can derail performance.

Whether your group is high school, club, or university-level athletes, the goal is the same: give athletes tools to perform with more calm, confidence, and focus.

Why work with me?

I’m a long-distance runner and Certified Mental Performance Consultant with 8 years of experience working with competitive athletes. I’ve helped athletes at every level become less reactive to pressure and discomfort and overcome the inner voice that’s getting in their way.

I’ve run the races, I’ve battled through the doubts and pre-race anxiety, and I’ve coached countless runners and athletes through the same challenges. My approach is grounded, relatable, and designed to give your athletes strategies they’ll actually use.

How it works

1. Discovery Call

We’ll start with a quick call to learn more about your group, season goals, and where your athletes could use support. I’ll share a few session ideas, and we’ll decide on the best fit.

2. Team Sessions

We’ll meet in person or online for one or more group sessions. Each session will include a mix of teaching, discussion, and guided mental training exercises. Topics range depending on the group, but often include:

  • Managing nerves and pre-performance anxiety

  • Building sustainable confidence

  • Staying present and focused on the right things

  • Building team culture and psychological safety among teammates

  • Handling discomfort in training and racing (specific to running)

  • Creating a personal race-day mindset plan (specific to running)

After each session, I’ll send a recap with takeaways so coaches can reinforce what’s discussed in-session.

What is the cost?

Cost is based on your group’s specific needs.

What coaches are saying

Nicole Garrido, Head Speed Skating Coach, Richmond Olympic Oval

“Scott is like a breath of fresh air! Our sessions with him were thought-provoking, engaging, and fun. Not to mention the mental performance tools he taught our athletes were easy incorporate into their daily training routine. As a coach, I feel I have more resources to enhance the way I support my athletes and the quality of their training. I wish I could’ve had Scott as my mental performance coach back when I was an athlete!”

Johann Wong, Head Coach, Apex Volleyball Coach

“I consistently preach that volleyball is 70-80% mental and the rest is physical, but how many hours do I actually schedule in for developing my team's mental skills... not many. During this past club season, I had Scott lead some sessions with my U18 Girls Volleyball Team and develop their mental skills. He helped them improve their confidence and deal with anxiety. He also led a club session with coaches to give a taste of what a Mental Performance Session is like. He brought a wealth of knowledge and experience, he's also very engaging and supportive. It was a pleasure to have Scott be a part of my volleyball team.”
